NEW ORLEANS, LA – Until now, the only way to watch the Jesters was sitting in the stands at Pan American Stadium or on YouTube. Now, New Orleans’ own minor league soccer team will be broadcast directly into your living room. The New Orleans Jesters and Cox Sports Television, with support from Heineken, are happy to announce the debut of The Jester’s Court, a weekly television program for the Jesters premiering May 3.
“The New Orleans Jesters have been strategically building a soccer entity that someday will match anyone in the US. This partnership with Cox Sports 37 and Heineken is an indication of the growth the sport in this region,” says Coach Kenneth Farrell. “I want to thank both Heineken and Cox Sports 37 for their support and foresight as we look forward to an amazing upcoming season with The Jesters becoming a part of the fabric of this great city.”
The weekly program will be filmed in front of a live audience and will be hosted by Paul Boron, a 23–year veteran sports broadcaster. Each episode will have highlights from Jesters matches and reaction from Coach Farrell and fans. The show will also feature a “Get to Know” segment with Jesters players plus training tips for aspiring young Jesters. In addition, it will feature news and information about the Jesters involvement with Carrollton Boosters, KIPP schools, and other community organizations. To further the team’s already strong relationship with fans, Coach Farrell will take questions during each show from audience members and from Twitter using the hashtag #AskCoachFarrell.
The Jesters invite fans to attend Buffalo Wild Wings at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Blvd and Severn Street in Metairie each Monday night to participate as audience members while each episode is filmed. New episodes will debut every Tuesday evening at 6 pm and then re-air on Wednesday nights at 7:30 pm. Each show will be broadcast in Louisiana and 15 other states on Cox Sports Television.
The New Orleans Jesters are the area’s minor league soccer team and top level franchise. As part of the National Premier Soccer League, elite players are provided the opportunity to develop in professional environments while awaiting their chance to move on to top pro teams in the US and around the world. In 2016, the New Orleans team will once again be a blend of high-level American soccer and international flair, with a dash of New Orleans flavor.
The New Orleans Jesters soccer team was established in 2008 by Samson, LLC and played their first season in 2009. The team intends to raise the level of soccer in the Greater New Orleans area, to offer the community affordable family-friendly entertainment and to provide children with the opportunity to receive soccer instruction through youth teams, camps and training sessions.
