LAS COLINAS, Texas – Junior Albert Badosa-Soler turned in a 1-over 72 to lead the Nicholls State University men’s golf team with a three-round score of 222, as the Colonels wrapped up play in the Bob Sitton Invitational at the TPC Four Seasons.
As a team, Nicholls shot a 307 on Thursday to card a 913 for the event and finish in 20th place. The Colonels started the invitational with a 309 before posting their best round with a 297. Arkansas State won the tournament with an 852.
“The conditions were tough once again with the wind blowing harder than before. We weren’t hitting the ball well, but Albert was able to finish with a good round,” said head coach James Schilling.
Badosa-Soler started out scorching hot, birdying four of the first five holes. He had pars on the next three before recording a bogey on 9 to finish at 3-under on the front. He went on to record two bogeys and a double to close out at 1-over and place in a tie for 32nd overall.
Peyton McCulloch also had his best round of the week, carding a 75 to finish with a 235. Placing second on the team for the Colonels was Jack Lee with a 227 after he shot 80 on Thursday. Josh Fullilove also shot 80 to finish at 240, while Chad Watts-Denyes posted an 81 for a 233.
Arkansas State not only won the team title, but Zan Luka Stirn took medalist honors for the Red Wolves with a 206, finishing four strokes ahead of the runner up.
The Colonels will play in their final event of the spring before conference in the Tiger Invitational, hosted by Missouri on April 10-11.
