ST. LOUIS — Andrew Heaney has made four big league starts, but the 23-year-old is the first to admit he needs improvement.

Rather than watch their top prospect struggle, the Marlins on Saturday afternoon optioned Heaney to Triple-A New Orleans.

Miami also optioned outfielder Jake Marisnick to Triple-A. Shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria (right triceps strain) will be reinstated on Sunday and play in the series finale against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium.
