Waco, TX – An undefeated week individually through the Georgia trip helped LSUA senior Paula Gordillo claim her second straight RRAC Player of the Week award, it was announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Gordillo, a senior from Madrid, Spain, went 3-0 in doubles and 2-0 in singles in the three matches the Generals played last week against three nationally-ranked opponents in the Peach State.

In all three doubles matches, she teamed up with Laia Charles to claim a trio of victories, all in position #2. Against #24 Reinhardt, they won 8-3, and then picked up a 9-7 win in the match against #16 Middle Georgia State, before finishing off the week with an 8-5 win in the match against #3 SCAD Savannah.

On the singles side, Gordillo stayed in the #6 position, where she went 2-0 with one match left unfinished. Against #24 Reinhardt, she rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win, helping propel LSUA to a 5-0 win over the Eagles. In the match against #16 Middle Georgia, her match was still ongoing when the Generals claimed the 5-1 victory over the Knights. Her 6-0, 6-2 win in the match against #3 SCAD Savannah had LSUA on the verge of upsetting the Bees, though the Generals would eventually fall 5-4 to round out the trip.

#11 LSUA (15-2) now await the final pairings for the NAIA Regional Tournament, being held April 28-30 at the Northside Tennis Complex in Helotes, Texas, just outside of San Antonio. The Generals are expected to be the top seed in the tournament, and the tournament winner clinches an automatic berth into the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
