Kansas City, MO – After guiding the top-ranked Generals to a perfect 31-0 record and clinching both the RRAC regular season and tournament championships, LSUA head coach Larry Cordaro was named the NAIA Coach of the Year by the National Basketball Coaches’ Association, it was announced Tuesday at the National Tournament Kick-Off Block Party Event.

The native of Ruston, Louisiana guided the Generals to their best season to date, going perfect through the 29-game regular season schedule, which included games against 10 ranked opponents, and finished it off by winning both games in the RRAC Tournament to clinch the program’s second Tournament Title.

In his third season at LSUA, Cordaro has guided the Generals to an 83-8 record, three RRAC regular season championships, three berths into the NAIA National Championship Tournament and advanced the Generals out of the first round of the NAIA Tournament last season.

LSUA holds the top overall seed heading into the 80th Annual Buffalo Funds NAIA National Championship Tournament, which runs March 15-21 at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. The Generals open play on Thursday at 12:30 P.M. against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in a first round match-up.
