Delgado fell to LSU-Eunice 5-3 Saturday in an 11-inning non-conference contest at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

Delgado plated the first run of the game in the third inning when Anthony Valdes singled, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Brandt Broussard, and scored on a single by JP LaGreco.

The Dolphins added a second run in the fifth inning when Valdes singled, advanced on a wild pitch and a groundout, and scored from third on a wild pitch.

Matt Rykaczewski’s solo home run in the sixth expanded the Delgado lead to 3-0.

In the seventh inning, Brent Hebert’s two-out triple was followed by a wild pitch to allow the first Bengal run to cross the plate. In the ninth, Hebert reached on a walk before Micah McHugh’s two run homerun tied the game 3-3.

The tie carried over to the eleventh inning when LSU-Eunice’s Jacob Richard was hit by a pitch, stole second, and advanced when Gavin Bourgeois reached on an infield error for the go-ahead run. Braeden Comeaux’s two-out double allowed Bourgeois to score as LSU-Eunice took a 5-3 lead and the eventual victory.

Delgado reliever Trevin Stein suffered the loss on the mound, pitching the eleventh inning in relief of starter Chris Turpin, who went 8.2 innings. Donovan Goatley (.1 innings) and Kyle Flettrich (1.0 inning) also appeared in relief for Delgado.

Delgado (27-13) will travel to Lake Charles on Wednesday to face Wharton College (Texas) at McNeese State University.
