LSU 6th in ESPN’s 2017 power index

LSU FootballWith National Signing Day in the rear view mirror, it’s time to start looking ahead to the 2017 football season.

ESPN released the first version of its preseason Football Power Index (FPI) Monday, which finds LSU at No. 6.

The Tigers, however, are only the third-highest ranked team from the SEC West. Alabama is No. 2 and Auburn is ranked fifth in the initial FPI.

The list includes all 130 teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision. As for the other FBS teams in Louisiana, Tulane is ranked No. 78, Louisiana Tech is 81st, UL Lafayette is No. 109 and UL Monroe is No. 117.
