(Loudon, Tenn.) After carding a 319 (+31) to end day one in second place, the Loyola University New Orleans women’s golf team returned to the Tennessee National Golf Club on Tuesday morning to wrap up action at the 2017 TWU Bojangles Spring Invitational hosted by Tennessee Wesleyan University.
Loyola left Loudon, Tennessee with some history on Tuesday as the team carded its lowest round ever score ever (308) en route to claiming the program’s third-ever tournament title after tallying a 627 (+51) at the two-day event. Loyola sizzled on the second day of action, racing past No. 20 Northwestern Ohio on Tuesday to claim the team title by an impressive nine strokes.
Individual history was also made in Tennessee on Tuesday, with Daria Delfino (SO/Cranston, R.I.) (+5, 149) leading throughout the entirety of the tournament to become just the second medalist in program history (Delfino, 2015).
Finishing day one tied for second with a 75, Julchen Narwark (SR/Buchholz in der Nordheide, .de) carded another 75 on the second day to end the tournament tied for second with a 150 (+6).
Jumping five spots on Tuesday, Ashley Rogers (SO/Pace, Fla.) ended her time in Tennessee with a seventh place finishing after carding a 159 (+15).
Megan Keck (SR/Sedalia, Mo.) wrapped up action on Tuesday tied for 20th (169, +25), while Alexis Hazard (SR/Pensacola, Fla.) headed home tied for 28th with a 174 (+30).
Dropping three spots from Monday, Anne Swoope (FR/Madison, Miss.) carded an 185 (+41) to grab 45th and Abigail Alton (SO/Beaumont, Texas) finished the tournament tied for 53rd with a 192 (+48).
Loyola will look to keep the momentum rolling as the team heads to Florida on April 2-3 for the Golfweek NAIA Invitational at the Mission Inn Resort.
