(Montgomery, Ala.) Following a dominating performance at the Montevallo Falcon T&F Classic over the weekend, Loyola University New Orleans sophomore Leah Banks (SO/Fayetteville, Ga.) was selected as this week’s Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Female Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Banks won the heptathlon at the Falcon Classic and collected one of the most impressive finishes in the NAIA this season. The sophomore finished inside the top four in all seven of her events, including victories in the 200-meter dash (26.31) and the long jump (5.61 meters) – both of which were NAIA “B” qualifying marks and Falcon Classic meet records.

Collecting 4,520 points, Banks’ heptathlon total is a new school record and is the second-best mark in the NAIA and the best in the SSAC this season by 800 points.

Overall, Banks currently leads the SSAC in the high jump (1.47), 100-meter hurdles (15.19) and heptathlon total (4520), while ranking second in the long jump (5.61 meters) and fourth in both the 800 meters (2:33.57) and 200 meters (26.31).

Banks and the rest of the Wolf Pack will be in action next at the Southern Miss Invitational on April 1.
