(Kansas City, Mo.) Following a strong performance at last weekend’s Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Roundup, the Loyola University New Orleans men’s tennis team received votes in this week’s NAIA Men’s Tennis Coaches Top 25 Poll, as announced by the national office yesterday evening.

Securing 18 votes, Tuesday marks the second time this season that the Wolf Pack have gotten votes in the national poll, with the first occurrence happening in January’s NAIA Preseason Poll. Under head coach Kyle Russell, Loyola has now gotten votes in a NAIA poll five times over the last two seasons.

Despite leaving Mobile with only one victory, the Wolf Pack showed its grit during the first SSAC Roundup of the season last week. Loyola pushed both then-No. 22 Middle Georgia State and then-No. 6 College of Coastal Georgia to the brink in 5-4 losses while dismantling Brewton-Parker 9-0 to start day two. Sitting at 3-5 overall, Loyola will hit the court next against NCAA DI University of Pennsylvania on Thursday, March 9 at 9:30 a.m.

Georgia Gwinnett (10-0) grabbed the top spot in this week’s edition of the poll, stretching the Grizzlies reign as national No. 1 to an impressive 1,014-straight days (21 polls). Xavier (5-2) received 302 votes to take the second spot while Keiser (6-3, 291), Lindsey Wilson (4-4, 284), and Northwestern Ohio (6-0, 270) round out the top five.

Led by William Carey (No. 6), the SSAC features four programs to earn a spot in the Top 25, which ties the Golden State Athletic Conference for the most representatives by a single conference.
