(Pulaski, Tenn.) Coming off a 13-6 loss versus NCAA Division I Southern University on Wednesday, the Loyola University New Orleans baseball team jumped back into conference play on Friday afternoon as the squad traveled to Pulaski, Tennessee to start a crucial three-game series against Martin Methodist University.

With both teams vying to earn the final spot in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championship, this weekend’s series was selected as the SSAC Network Games of the Week.

Despite taking the 1-0 lead after the first inning, the Wolf Pack was unable to combat a huge eight-run fourth inning by the Redhawks and fell 13-3 on Friday afternoon.

Entering tomorrow’s doubleheader, Loyola (17-24, 3-11 SSAC) now sits one game behind Martin Methodist (11-21-1, 4-10 SSAC) in the conference standings. Currently ninth, the Wolf Pack needs to jump up to at least eighth place by the end of the season in order to make the cut off for the conference tournament.

These two teams will return to Martin Methodist’s East Campus tomorrow to cap off the three-games series with a doubleheader scheduled to start at noon.
