(Westwego, La.) Coming off a 2-1 series victory over Tougaloo College in Mississippi over the weekend, the Loyola University New Orleans baseball returned home on Tuesday evening to welcome Louisiana State University-Alexandria for a nonconference doubleheader at Segnette Field.

The Wolf Pack had revenge on its mind as the Generals took both games (8-2, 6-5) in Alexandria on February 7.

LSUA had other plans, however, as the visiting team would leave Westwego with two wins (4-3, 8-1) on Tuesday to claim the season series 4-0.

Loyola (15-18) comes back to Segnette Field on Friday, March 21, to kick off a three-game series against Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) foe Blue Mountain College. The Wolf Pack will battle the Toppers in a doubleheader on Friday starting at 4:00 p.m. before wrapping up the series with a single game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Game One: LSUA 5 – Loyola 4

The Generals struck first in game one after a single to third by Trace Oliva scored Logan Constantine from third.

Loyola quickly answered in the bottom of the first with a RBI single from Alexander Lorenzo (SR/Miami, Fla.) (to score Rawlings Elam (JR/Houston, Tx.)) to knot the game at 1-1.

Following a scoreless second inning, the visiting team manufactured one run in the top of the third to grab the 2-1 advantage.

Down 2-1 in the fifth, Brandon Wilson Jr. (FR/Chalmette, La.) stepped to the plate and sent a shot out to left to score pinch-runner Charlie Seiter (SO/Mobile, Ala.) and knot the game at 2-2.

Loyola would grab the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after Jase Griffin crossed home on fielder’s choice to put the home team up 3-2.

The Generals responded in the final inning by converting three hits to two runs to retake the advantage 4-3.

A single by Lorenzo (his third of the game) proved to be the Wolf Pack’s only offense in the inning as the home team dropped game one 4-3.

Lorenzo led Loyola in game one with three hits and one RBI. Brandon Wilson Jr. and Peyton Senner (SR/New Orleans, La.) were responsible for the other two RBI in the opening game, while Senner added a team-high 10 putouts.

On the mound, Alexander Acevedo (FR/Miami, Fl.) (3-2) got saddled with the loss after surrendering two runs (both earned) on three hits in 2.0 innings pitched.

Game Two: LSUA 8 – Loyola 1

The Generals’ bats came out hot in game two as the visiting team raced out to a 4-0 lead through five innings.

Down 6-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Rosenbohm gave Loyola its first baserunner of the inning following a walk. Griffin followed with a walk of his own to give the Wolf Pack two runners on with just one out. Rosenbohm would later score on a fielder’s choice to put the home team on the board 6-1.

LSUA closed the door in the seventh with three more runs to leave Westwego with the convincing 8-1 victory in game two.

Rosenbohm, Ben Condara (JR/Houston, Tx.), Jesse Jordan (SO/New Iberia, La.), and Nathan Law (FR/Arab, Ala.) each recorded a hit in Tuesday’s nightcap with Condara also chipping in five putouts.

Making his first start, Wyatt Lankford (FR/Riverside, Ca.) (0-1) got the loss after giving up four runs (all earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts and a walk in 3.0 innings of work.
