Ragin Cajuns Hoops

There are three weeks left in the regular season before conference tournaments begin as teams around the country look to finish strong and impress the committee prior to Selection Sunday.

The LSU Tigers of Johnny Jones picked up a huge victory over 15th ranked Texas A&M on Saturday, 76-71. The Tigers have a decent RPI of No. 74 in the NCAA and Warren Nolan rankings while they are No. 71 in the ESPN poll.

LSU (16-9, 9-3) faces off against surging Alabama tonight at 8 pm in Baton Rouge. The Tigers has six games left with a trip to Kentucky and a home contest against Florida as standout contests. LSU could use those wins to wrap up an at-large bid.

Bob Marlin’s Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns are currently battling UL Monroe for the No. 2 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament. The Cajuns fell to Little Rock, 68-64 this past Saturday and will begin a four game road swing starting on Thursday against UT-Arlington.

ULL (14-9, 10-4) has a No. 129 RPI in the NCAA while being No. 130 in Warren Nolan and No. 132 in ESPN.

The ULM Warhawks of Keith Richard are on a roll winning three straight contests following a victory over Arkansas State, 78-73 in overtime. ULM also begins a four game road trip starting with Texas State on Thursday.

The Warhawks (13-12, 9-5) do not have the RPI strength for an at-large bid being No. 163 in Warren Nolan and the NCAA and No. 167 in ESPN.

The Sun Belt Tournament is from March 10-13 at Lakefront Arena.
