LAFAYETTE – Katheryn “Jolie” Talley, age 53, originally from Lafayette, now residing in Breaux Bridge, LA is making her professional boxing debut in the 134 lb. weight class against former National Golden Gloves Champion Ms. Allie Edwards from the Woodlands, TX on October 31, 2015 at the Reliant Arena in Houston TX.
The Talley vs. Edwards fight is scheduled to be on the undercard of professional Jermell Charlo (26-0, 110 KO’s) and Joachim Alcine (36-7-2, 21 KO’s) 10 round super welterweight bout.
Affectionately known as “Jolie”, she has an amateur record of 7 fights, 5 wins, and 2 losses. Jolie started boxing about 4 years ago in Albuquerque, NM. In addition, Jolie won the silver medal at the Women’s National Golden Gloves in 2014.
When asked what made her get into boxing and motivates her to be a professional boxer at her age? Jolie replied, “It goes back to the thrill of the first time I climbed into the ring and slid between the ropes. It’s the personal perseverance thing and a desire to be the very best I can be. I may not have the years of experience, but I have the focus, conditioning, boxing technique, and training work ethics – I train 7 days a week which includes 4-5 miles of running and cardio.”
Jolie is currently training out of the Back Street Boxing Club under Coach Shelton Leblanc in Carencro, LA but still has close ties with her former Coach Dennis Walker from Fort Walton Beach, FL. Doors open at the Reliant Arena in Houston, TX at 5pm. For reserved ringside or general admission tickets or more information contact 904-607-1113.
