LA Tech Track & Field closes out ULL Classic

LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana Tech’s track and field teams enjoyed a successful two days in the southern half of the state as the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters combined to record 25 top-10 finishes at this weekend’s meet hosted by UL-Lafayette.

Louisiana Tech senior Chloe Lautric recorded a first place finish in women’s high jump with a mark of 5-7.75 (1.72m). In the women’s long jump, Morgan White finished 13th with a final mark of 15-5.50 (4.71m).

Rhea Thompson finished in fourth place in the women’s shot put with a mark of 46-0.75 (14.04m), while she also placed second in the discus throw with a mark of 140-10 (42.93m). Asia Abron ended the shot put event in 11th place with a final mark of 36-5.75 (11.12m), while Morgan Keesee finished the discus in fourth with a mark of 135-09 (41.37m) and the hammer throw with a mark of 162-9 (49.61m). Abron also finished the discus in eighth with a mark of 130-5 (39.75m).

Also in the field events, LA Tech’s Camille Lott finished the women’s javelin throw in third place with a mark of 134-7 (41.03m).

LA Tech’s Brandi Dobbin finished in the top three in the women’s 400-meter hurdles after placing third in the event with a time of 1:03.41. In the women’s 400-meter dash, Dobbin recorded another top-10 finish with a time of 56.19 to place eighth in the event.

Elia Nero also competed in the 400-meter dash and finished in 10th place with a final time of 56.80. Nero completed a successful day on the track after finishing in third place in the women’s 800-meter run with a run of 2:13.30. Quinci Middlebrooks ended the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.50 to also record a top-10 finish in ninth place. Kacie Kaufman rounded out the event with a time of 2:28.06 to finish in 10th place.

In the men’s running events, Darius Statham finished the 400-meter dash in ninth place with a time of 48.51, while Brandon Lewis-Graham placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:11.61 in the race. Nathan Bolner also recorded a top-10 finish in the men’s 1,500-meter race with a time of 4:14.82. LA Tech’s Lanorris Graden also posted a third-place finish in the men’s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.44.

Tamario Lattin recorded a pair of second-place finishes in the men’s high jump and long jump with marks of 6-9.75 (2.08m) and 23-11.50 (7.30m), respectively. Craig Jones also finished in the top 10 in the long jump with a mark of 22-10.00 (6.96m) to place sixth. In the triple jump, Jones finished in fifth place with a mark of 46-6 (14.17m).

Daniel Sams finished the men’s pole vault in fifth place with a final mark of 14-11.50 (4.56m), while Isaac Samuels placed eighth in the men’s shot put with a mark of 45-11.75 (14.01m). Samuels also placed fifth in the discus throw with a mark of 158-1 (48.18m), while Blake McMillian ended the hammer throw event with a mark of 147-0 (44.82m).

Louisiana Tech’s final top-10 finish of the weekend came in the men’s javelin throw when Tyler Griggers finished the event in eighth place with a mark of 196-9 (59.97m).

Louisiana Tech returns to action on March 24 as the men and women travel to Houston, Texas, to compete in the annual Victor Lopez Classic.
