RUSTON – In a press conference held at the CenturyLink Center in Bossier City on Tuesday, it was announced that Louisiana Tech will be taking on Grambling State at the 14,000-seat arena on Dec. 17 in the first annual SB Holiday Men’s Basketball Classic.
The event will consist of three games with LA Tech versus GSU being the last of the three at 7 p.m.
“This is something we have wanted to do, to try and come over to the Shreveport-Bossier area because we have so many fans, so many passionate alums,” head coach Eric Konkol said. “Secondly, we wanted to do this for our team. It is a chance to play at a neutral site in a beautiful building. To be part of an event like this, representing north Louisiana, is special.”
This will mark the first time the Bulldogs play at the CenturyLink Center (then called the CenturyTel Center) since December of 2008 when they battled Centenary.
Playing neutral site games in the Shreveport-Bossier area dates all the way back to the 1950’s when the Bulldogs would participate in the Louisiana Invitational. Later on, they took part in the Gulf South Classic on a yearly basis.
This will be the second straight year competing against crosstown foe Grambling State. The two teams squared off in Grambling last season with LA Tech winning, 86-67.
