Frisco, TX – The Louisiana Tech Bulldog baseball program has accepted an invitation to compete in the 2018 Frisco Classic, alongside national-powers Texas A&M, Baylor and Cal Berkley from March 2-4, 2018 at Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas.

The weekend tournament will have two games per day with each team playing the other three teams in a round robin format.

Over the past two seasons, Louisiana Tech has taken the college baseball world by storm. Over that stretch, LA Tech has compiled 13 wins over nationally-ranked opponents including wins over house-hold names like Arkansas, Mississippi State, Rice and Cal State Fullerton.

The Bulldogs earned the programs first at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament a season ago and carried that momentum into this year with three wins over nationally-ranked programs. The Bulldogs have toppled SEC-powers Mississippi State and Arkansas, as well as wins over nationally-ranked Lafayette and McNeese State.

“The Frisco Classic is an incredible opportunity to play in a wonderful facility against some really great programs,” Louisiana Tech head coach Lane Burroughs said. “We are extremely thankful for the chance to compete against top-notch competition. We have a large alumni base in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, and we recruit it heavily. It’s a win-win situation for our program.”

The four programs have combined for over 9,000 wins, over 650 MLB draft picks, 70 NCAA post-season appearances, 58 conference titles, 15 College World Series appearances and two National Championships. It is the goal of the Frisco Classic to continuously bring in tradition-rich programs in order to provide unparalleled entertainment and competition for the both the fans and athletes. Peak Sports MGMT is currently contracted to host the Frisco Classic at Dr Pepper Ballpark through March of 2019.

The event will mark the first time in program history that Louisiana Tech and Cal have meet on the diamond, while Baylor and Texas A&M have been a frequent non-conference opponent for the Diamond ‘Dogs.

“Coming off the heels of a great 2017 Frisco Classic, we are excited to bring these tradition rich programs and their fan bases to Frisco, Texas,” says Frisco Classic president, Ryan Holloway. “Several of these teams have spent time nationally ranked during the 2017 season and we expect all of them to make noise for the remainder of the year. 2018 can’t get here soon enough!”

Tickets For the 2018 Frisco Classic are expected to go on sale in early June and more information will be released about ticket sales prior to that date.
