LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Tech Golf team closed out the annual UL-Lafayette Classics tournament Tuesday afternoon as the Bulldogs finished tied for 11th at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette.

LA Tech shot a three-round total of 911 (302, 302, 307), while Kent State took home the title this year with an impressive team score of 843 over the course of two days.

“Unfortunately, we did not drive the ball in play as much as we needed to, so in turn, there were many times this week when we were in the trees and simply failed at getting the ball back in play,” head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “Something that encourages me a lot is we were fifth in the field in the number of birdies made. This young group is very talented and making that many birdies is a very promising sign. We are no doubt getting better each week and the guys are fully on board with our approach of 100 percent commitment on every shot. I am expecting some great things from this team throughout the remainder of our season and looking forward to our next event in two weeks in Dallas.”

Freshman Joacim Ahlund led the Bulldogs in Lafayette after shooting 225 (71, 73, 81) over three rounds to finish tied for 31st at the two-day tournament. After the first round of play, Ahlund was tied for 14th after shooting 1-under-par on Monday.

Another LA Tech freshman in Karsten Green finished with a total score of 230 (77, 76, 77) in the tournament, while sophomore Hunter Glenn recorded a three-round total of 232 (78, 78, 76) to wrap up play on Tuesday. Charles Neel White finished with a score of 237 (81, 83, 73), while Felix Palson closed out play for the Bulldogs with a total score of 239 (76, 75, 88).

LA Tech returns to action March 14-16 when the Bulldogs travel to compete in the Bob Sitton Invitational, which will be hosted at TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas Golf Course in Dallas, Texas.
