Metairie-Based Club Wins Triple Header on Final Day


Panama City, FL – The Jefferson Parish Recreation Department Eastbank 15 yr old all-star team captured the 2014 Grand Slam World Series championship on Saturday by defeating Chain Baseball from Warner Robbins, Ga, 7-1, and the New Orleans Pelicans, 11-2 and 6-0, in a triple-header.

The tournament was held in Panama City Beach, FL and featured 15 teams from as far away as Anderson, Indiana.

The JPRD East club, which captured the Parish’s first ever Grand Slam World Series title, went an impressive 8-1 overall in the weeklong tournament.

The team roster featured players from Rummel, Jesuit, Brother Martin, Holy Cross, Country Day and John Curtis.

Coached by Danny Riehm, Oliver Lacoste and Ken Goodlet, the squad was the first to represent Jefferson Parish and win the tournament.
