PGA Golfer Ryan Palmer spent an interesting night of preparation for Friday’s second round of the Zurich Classic.

Palmer was New Orleans head coach Sean Payton’s guest in the Saints war room during the closing moments leading up to the Saints first selection in the 2017 NFL Draft.

“It was just awesome just to sit there — when they had their time to pick,” Palmer said after Friday’s round in which he played with Jordan Spieth.

“It was one of the longest five minutes I’ve ever experienced. The phone calls coming in, the deals trying to be made, listening to Coach Payton talk to his scouts and what they really wanted to do, and I think that KC (trading up) kind of threw a kink in the their plan.

“But, it was kind of cool when they picked Lattimore and you could see the excitement in their eyes.”

Payton caddied for Palmer in the 2013 Greenbrier Classic.
