Kansas City, MO – After completing a perfect run through the regular season and RRAC Tournament, the Generals took all first place votes in the final NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll of the season and will be the number one overall seed when the NAIA National Championship Tournament begins on March 15th at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.

LSUA took over the #1 spot on January 3rd and has stayed there in each of the last six rating periods, all by unanimous vote as the NAIA’s last undefeated teams. The Generals won the RRAC regular season championship by six games over the field, and then defeated Langston 90-87 in the RRAC Tournament Championship Game held March 4th at the Rapides Parish Coliseum.

Along with the final rankings, the NAIA announced the brackets for the NAIA National Championship Tournament. There, LSUA, the top-seed in the Naismith Bracket, found out they will take on the Drovers of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in the first round, the bracket’s 8-seed. USAO (19-13, 11-7 SAC) clinched their spot in the tournament by winning the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament, erasing a 15-point deficit with less than 12:00 to play as a 4-seed on the road, 93-90 over Oklahoma City.

The Generals and Drovers face off on Thursday, March 16th inside Kansas City’s Municipal Auditorium. Tip time is set for 12:30 P.M. with the winner playing in Friday’s Second Round at 4:00 P.M. against the winner of the Westmont vs. William Carey game, which immediately precedes LSUA’s.
