Alexandria, LA – LSUA had a number of chances, but solid goalkeeping by the Eagles and several defensive breakdowns by the Generals allowed Texas A&M Texarkana to take a 3-1 decision Thursday afternoon at Generals Field.

Oscar Herrera got the scoring started right at the ten minute mark into the match as he dribbled the ball all alone into the right hand side of the box and launched a shot that beat LSUA goalkeeper Declan Baker for a 1-0 score. It would stay that way until the halftime whistle blew.

LSUA got an equalizer in the 58th minute as Renato Moriera stepped up to take a corner kick that Mark Hammond made a strong move on and headed into the net to make it 1-1.

The Eagles got the advantage back in the 70th minute as Dylan Beck fed the ball through to Herrera again who was one-on-one with goalkeeper Thomas Fuller. Herrera chipped it right over Fuller and it bounced its way into the net to give TAMUT the lead for good.

Texarkana got a fortunate bounce for the final goal. A cross went took a deflection off of a LSUA player and into the net for an own goal and the 3-1 score.

LSUA (3-5, 0-1 RRAC) took 28 shots during the match, nine on target. The Generals defense held Texas A&M Texarkana (3-7, 2-1 RRAC) to just six shots with three on net. Goalkeeper Thomas Fuller was credited with one save.

After a week to rest, the Generals head on the road for three straight matches, starting next Thursday, September 29th against St. Thomas. Opening kick is set for 7:00 PM at Houston Sports Park.
