Alexandria, LA – With series win already in hand, LSUA looked to finish the series sweep over Southwest, but the Mustangs had one big inning and the Generals couldn’t string together the hits needed to respond in a 4-0 loss to Southwest Monday at Generals Field.

The Mustangs did all their damage in the second inning as starter Kael Jones ran into some trouble. A fielder’s choice allowed Hayden Keese to come across, and then a single by Ben Tingen scored both Ean Smith and Chris Aviles. A sacrifice fly by Isiah Peters allowed Mikey Davis to come across for the 4-0 score.

Southwest pitcher Alex Goodwin held it down from there, stifling the LSUA bats throughout the rest of the contest.

Kael Jones (2-3) took the loss. He went into the second inning and gave up two hits and three runs, all earned, walked four and struck out two. Six Generals each got one hit in the game.

The Generals (13-10, 4-2 RRAC) head on the road for a midweek doubleheader against William Carey. First pitch against the Crusaders is set for 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Milton Wheeler Field.
