GCAC Volleyball Tournament returns to New Orleans in 2016

NEW ORLEANS (GCAConf.com) – The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference volleyball championship tournament returns to New Orleans after a one-year stop in Little Rock, Ark. The seven-team tournament will be hosted by Dillard University on Nov. 4–5 at Dent Hall gymnasium on the university’s Gentilly campus.

Xavier University will enter the tournament as the conference’s top seed for the sixth consecutive season after clinching the regular season championship with a win over Southern University at New Orleans last week. The Gold Nuggets have won the tournament each of the past five seasons, along with the conference’s automatic bid to the NAIA national tournament.

Full tournament seeding will be released after the conclusion of the regular season.

Opening Round – Friday, Nov. 4
Game 1 (Seed 4 vs. Seed 5) – 9:00 a.m.
Game 2 (Seed 3 vs. Seed 6) – 11:00 a.m.
Game 3 (Seed 2 vs. Seed 7) – 1:00 p.m.

Semifinals – Friday, Nov. 4
Game 1 winner vs. No. 1 Xavier – 3:00 p.m.
Game 2 winner vs. Game 3 winner – 5:00 p.m.

Championship Final – Saturday, Nov. 5
11:00 a.m.
