New Orleans, La. (GCAConf.com) – The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference announced its 2015-16 basketball conference schedule on Thursday. The GCAC begins conference play on January 2, 2016 and ends at the 2016 GCAC Basketball Championships in New Orleans from March 4-6.
The GCAC conference schedule begins with six teams in action on Saturday, Jan. 2, including a double header between Southern University at New Orleans and Talladega. SUNO is the defending women’s champion and Talladega is the GCAC’s defending men’s champion. The Tornadoes spent several weeks atop the NAIA Division I rankings and advanced to the NAIA tournament semifinals.
The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference basketball championships will be held in New Orleans for the third consecutive year. All seven teams will participate in the tournament with the regular season champion receiving a first-round bye. Tournament play is scheduled to begin on Friday, March 4. The No. 2 seed takes on the No. 7 seed, with the No. 3 seed playing the No. 6 seed, and the No. 4 seed matching up with the No. 5 seed.
