New Orleans – Thursday, February 16, Heather Harper (wife of Saints, Roman Harper) and Brittney Bogues (daughter of former NBAer Muggsy Bogues) will host Beauty is in the Tea Cup Women’s Empowerment brunch. The brunch, which begins with an 11:30 am check-in followed by a program that lasts until 2pm, will benefit local charities that serve young women who have not been dealt the best circumstances.

The Beauty is in the Tea Cup Women’s Empowerment brunch is a charity event that’s the first of its kind featuring all-star female panelists, including Mrs. Benson, Helena Moreno and CleRenda McGrady.

Over 100 guests including female business professionals and family members of athletes will brunch at Broussard’s Restaurant (819 Conti St. New Orleans), to inspire and empower others to make a difference in the lives of women across the world.

“I could read off a number of alarming statistics that show why we truly need to change our culture and how we view women,” says Bogues. “Heather and I wanted to use this great platform to address the concerns of New Orleans and the country, with hopes of empowering women to take action and get involved in their communities.”

An expert-led panel discussion with some of the most influential women from an array of professions will cover topics such as: etiquette, body image, work and life balance, personal development, self-discovery, entertainment, and how to prevent domestic and sexual violence from affecting more women.

“Young women who have only known neglect, abuse, unworthiness and many other unfavorable situations will discover a beauty about themselves that they never knew existed so if nothing else I hope everyone takes away the importance of women supporting each other,” says Harper

“Women will walk away from the brunch knowing that they have the ability to impact their future. They will not be defined by their past.”

The event, which also includes fun icebreakers, live Japanese flower tea blossoms, networking opportunities, and raffle prizes, is arranged in a way that allows all guests and the young women to interact with one another on a more intimate level encouraging the opportunity for mentorship that outlasts this one day. Proceeding the brunch, the young ladies of Raintree and Eden House were treated with clothes from Dress For Success, purses from Stein Mart, hair and makeup from H2O Salon & Spa and autographed books from Mrs. CleRenda McGrady.

Many people do not know that all tea is made from the same plant because there are so many different varieties of tea. Each tea varietal’s unique characteristics are the result of the human selection, soil composition, and local weather patterns. In comparison, we are all born beautiful, blank slates but life molds us into a variety of uniquely, beautiful creatures. Like an amazingly great cup of tea, the 1st Annual Women’s Empowerment Brunch will bring together women from a variety of backgrounds and success levels in order to empower and inspire women from all walks of life; especially those young women who have not yet discovered the beauty in their own ”tea-cup”. Together, we will brew the most beautiful cup of tea.
