NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Director of Athletics Troy Dannen announced hiring of Garrett Broom as the Green Wave’s new Assistant Athletics Director, Development.
Broom leads the day-to-day operations of the development initiatives within the athletics department, including the Green Wave Club, Olive and Blue Society, Tulane Letterwinners Association, annual donor events and stewardship.
Prior to arriving in New Orleans, Broom served as the Director of Development at the University of Wisconsin from 2014-16. Broom’s primary focus was on major gift identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for facility projects, endowments and annual donors for the athletics department. During his tenure in Madison, Broom was part of a team that consecutively broke annual records raising over $100 million cash in three years. He oversaw the Forever Badgers Endowment Program that gained significant growth due to the $40 million Nicholas Matching Gift program which was completed in May 2016.
Prior to arriving at Wisconsin, Broom served as an Assistant Director of Development with the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation at the University of Mississippi from 2012-14.
From 2011-12, he served as Development Assistant with the Golden Gopher Fund at the University of Minnesota. Broom also spent two years in the private sector in retail banking from 2006-08.
A native of Flushing, Mich., Broom earned his MBA from Webber International University (Fla.) in 2011. While at Webber, he served as the graduate assistant men’s soccer coach. He earned his undergraduate degree from Siena Heights University (Mich.) in 2006, where he was a four-year letterwinner on the varsity soccer team.
Broom and his wife, Katie, reside in Mandeville, La. with their daughter and son.
