RUSTON – Former Louisiana Tech small forward Jaron Johnson was announced by the NBA Development League as one of 14 members of the Select team which will compete in the Samsung NBA Summer League in Las Vegas that tips off on July 8.

Johnson was second on the team in scoring with an average of 18.2 points per game in his second season with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He also averaged 5.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest.

The Tyler, Texas native lettered as a Bulldog from 2012-14. Known for his high-flying dunks, Johnson helped LA Tech to back-to-back conference regular season titles and National Invitation Tournament appearances.

He has already spent time on the NBA Summer League roster with the Indiana Pacers. Last summer, he competed for the Washington Wizards.

The Select team, now in its seventh campaign, is comprised of the top NBA D-League prospects. Its appearance in Las Vegas follows the NBA D-League’s 15th season.
