Former Kentwood star, NFL wide receiver Michael Jackson dead at 48 after accident

Ravens WR Michael JacksonFormer Kentwood High star and NFL wide receiver Michael Jackson was killed in a motorcycle accident on US 51 south of the Village of Tangipahoa early Friday morning at the age of 48.

Jackson while riding his motorcycle reportedly collided with a car backing out of a parking space into his path. Both Jackson and the driver of the car, 20-year old Destiny Gordon of Kentwood, were killed.

The Southern Mississippi product was Mayor of the Village of Tangipahoa from 2009 until 2012. The 6-foot-4 Jackson had nearly 5,400 yards receiving in eight NFL seasons in the 1990’s with the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens.
