Delgado split Thursday’s doubleheader against Snead State at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium, falling 3-2 before a 8-7 walkoff win in game two.
In game one, Snead State struck first in the second inning. Delgado’s Blake Way walked to lead off the second, scoring on a single by Tyler Thompson to tie the game. Snead added a run in the third on three singles.
In the fourth, Tony Valdes walked and scored on a single by Daniel Lahare to knot the game 2-2.
Snead scored the go-ahead run in the seventh on wild pitch to take the lead and the 3-2 win.
Donovan Goatley suffered the loss in relief of starter Skylar Enlow and Hayden Adams.
In game two, Snead took an early 2-0 lead on two solo homeruns in the first and second innings. A two run single by Delgado’s Matt Rykaczewski tied the game 2-2 in the third. Snead added three in the fourth on a Hanson homerun.
Delgado plated two in the fifth on groundout and sacrifice fly to cut the Snead lead to one run. Snead answered with a two run sixth inning. In the bottom frame, Delgado plated two runs on a single by Daniel Lahare before the tying run scored on a balk to make for a 7-7 game.
Blake Way led off the seventh with a single advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Will Sheats and scored on a single by Brandt Broussard for Delgado’s 8-7 walkoff victory.
Will Sheats picked up the win on the mound in relief of starter Adam Nelson and Seth Dreux and Kevin Armstrong.
Delgado will host LSU-Eunice in a 3:00 doubleheader on Friday.
