Delgado falls to Southwest Mississippi in home opener

Delgado fell to Southwest Mississippi in both the Ladies’ and Men’s first home games of the 2016-2017 season Saturday in the Michael Williamson Center.

The Lady Dolphins trailed 41-27 at the half before being overcome by the Bears in an 86-56 defeat. Delgado was led by Tarralyn Moses (19 points) and Sierra Jackson (12 points). Jackson had five defensive rebounds and went 3-4 in three pointers.

The Delgado Men trailed by six entering the half before Kristen Russell’s three pointer tied the game 45-45 in the opening minutes of the second half. Southwest retook the lead and the game enroute to Delgado’s 66-51 loss to the Bears. The Dolphins were led by Ray White (14 points) and Vance Burwell (10 points).

Delgado travels to Utica, Mississippi on Monday to face Hinds Community College. The Ladies’ game tips off at 5:30, followed by the Men at 7:30. The team returns to the Williamson Center on November 19 to face Copiah-Lincoln.
