Cowboys tie for 5th at Border Olympics

LAREDO, Texas – McNeese climbed three spots in the team standings to finish in a tie for fifth place after the second and final round of the Border Olympics here Saturday morning, posting a two-round score of 573 to finish the shortened 36-hole golf tournament at 3-under par.

Daniel O’Loughlin had the hot stick on the day shooting a 4-under 68 to lead McNeese in round two while Ian Berrigan, who entered the day at 4-under par, shot a 3-over 75 to finish at 1-under for the tournament and in a tie for 23rd place on the individual leaderboard.

Andreas Krokeide was the highest McNeese finisher on the leaderboard as his even par score of 72 kept him at 2-under for the tournament and in a tie for 14th place.

Duncan McNeill shot a 1-over 73 to finish even for the tourney and in a tie for 27th while Nicklas Mattner carded an 88 in the round and ended with a two-round total of 166.

Campbell won the team title with a scored of 559 for 17-under par followed by Houston at 12-under with a 564.

Nebraska’s Mike Colgate, playing as an individual, took the honors on the individual leaderboard after his 3-under round of 69 on Saturday put him at 9-under for the tournament.

The Cowboys will be back in action March 20-21 when they take part in the Lone Star Invitational at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio.
