BATON ROUGE – Freshman Markesha Broussard and junior Ciera Eugene notched personal bests while junior Sakinah Abdul-Aziz and senior Ashley Wheeler placed third at the prestigious LSU Alumni Gold track meet Saturday at Bernie Moore Stadium.

Broussard crossed the finish line in the 100-meter dash at 13.31. Eugene earned a ninth-place finish in the javelin throw, crushing her previous career best (34.55m) by over two meters as her best heave landed at 36.74m.

Abdul-Aziz collected the bronze on a non-wind aided 5.68m long jump. This is her fourth consecutive meet earning a podium spot in the long jump.

Wheeler used an 11.92m (+0.8) triple jump to also earn third. Like Abdul-Aziz, Wheeler made her fourth straight appearance as a medalist, highlighted by a personal-best 12.28m effort at the Southern Miss Invitational that gave her the gold.
