Colonel Tennis swept at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Nicholls State University men’s and women’s tennis teams took on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Wednesday afternoon and were defeated 7-0 in both matches.

On the women’s side, the Colonels (6-5, 1-4 SLC) fell in doubles play in two straight matches to drop the point before going on to lose five of the six singles lines in straight sets. The lone Colonel to earn a victory was Ambika Pande on the No. 3 court as she came up short against Louise Trigona, 6-3, 6-7 (8-6), 10-6.

On the No. 4 line, freshman Mariia Kozachok had a close battle with Maria Maldonado, 7-5, 6-4.

For the men, Nicholls (4-6, 0-2) was shutout as well against the Islanders but Sam Meessen was able to pick up a set victory before falling to Cagatay Soke, 6-4, 0-6, 10-7. Bernard Wezeman also had a close match in his first set, falling 7-6 (10-8), 6-3 on the No. 1 court.
