In a message to school administrators yesterday (September 21), Catholic schools Superintendent Dr. Jan Daniel Lancaster announced she would be stepping down from the role of superintendent at the end of the 2016-2017 school year.

In her message to school leaders, Dr. Lancaster wrote, “It has been a blessing to serve with the archbishop and with each of you; although I find great joy in this position, I feel it is the right time to step aside now that the major objectives of the strategic plan have been completed. I will be working with the archbishop throughout the transition. I assure you that I will continue to faithfully serve you and our family of Catholic schools throughout the rest of this school year and that our ministry will always be in my thoughts and prayers.”

Dr. Lancaster will formally step down on June 30, 2017. Read more from the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
