Xavier University of Louisiana’s Ed Cassiere will receive a 25-Year Award at the College Sports Information Directors of America 2017 national convention.

CoSIDA announced Wednesday that Cassiere and 10 other 25-Year Award honorees will be recognized June 14 — the final day of the four-day convention — during an awards luncheon at the World Center Marriott in Orlando, Fla. CoSIDA honors those who have completed 25 full-time years in the profession.

Cassiere is in his 11th year of publicizing XULA Athletics. He previously worked as SID at the University of New Orleans from 1987-2000 and as assistant SID at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette — known then as the University of Southwestern Louisiana — during the 1986-87 academic year.

The other 25-Year Award recipients of 2017 are David Alexander of the College of Saint Rose, Tyler Cundith of Johnson County Community College, Steve Fenk of Oregon State University, Gregory Goings of Bowie State University, Mike Kern of the Missouri Valley Conference, Matt Levy of Delaware Valley University, Frank Mercogliano of the University of New Mexico, Terry Owens of Beloit College, Judy Willson of the Mountain West Conference and Bob Ziadie of Kings College.

CoSIDA is comprised of more than 3,000 intercollegiate athletic communications and media relations professionals from colleges, universities and athletic conferences at all divisions of competition in the United States and Canada.

This is the fifth year the CoSIDA Convention will be held in conjunction with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) & Affiliates Convention.
