Bowling: Rummel ends regular season with victory over St. Augustine

KENNER – Archbishop Rummel wrapped up the No. 5 seed in next week’s New Orleans regional bowling tournament with a 20-7 victory over St. Augustine Thursday at AMF All Star Lanes.

The Raiders, who finished the regular season at 7-4, used a balanced attack to post a 3,279 team series. Ruben Gendron led Rummel with a 600 series on games of 206-206-188. Quin Cadella had a 577 series from the leadoff position, including a 222 final games, while Trevor Maggio rolled a 573, including a 222 opening game.

St. Augustine was again led by Jordan Hunter, who rolled an impressive 756 series on games of 237-279-240. Rodney Peete had a 562 set and Thaddeus Sterling finished with a 537.

Rummel won seven of nine matches in the Nos. 1-3 positions in the lineup. The Raiders led 6-2 after the first game and 12-4 after game two.

The Purple Knights (4-6) will be seeded seventh in Monday’s regional, also at AMF. Boys action begins at 1 p.m.

By virtue of its No. 5 seed, Rummel gets a bye into the final round of action, which is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m.

He continued that relationship as a student at Loyola University, where he graduated in 1987.
