THIBODAUX, La. – Following the completion of the 2017 National Football League (NFL) Draft, former Nicholls State University offensive lineman Chris Bordelon and defensive back B.T. Sanders signed rookie free agent contracts. Bordelon joined the New York Jets while Sanders signed with the Buffalo Bills.
Bordelon, a native of White Castle, Louisiana, capped his career at Nicholls by earning Second Team All-Southland. A two-year starter, Bordelon was instrumental in the Colonels’ improved offense in 2016 as the team averaged nearly 13 points per game more than the previous year. Bordelon sat out the 2015 season, but was All-Southland honorable mention as a junior after starting all 12 games at left tackle.
Sanders, a native of Foley, Alabama, was also a Second Team All-Southland selection in 2016 after starting at safety for the Colonel defense. Sanders missed the final three games with an injury, but still finished fourth on the team in tackles with 56. A three-year starter, Sanders recorded 254 tackles, had four forced fumbles and tallied three interceptions in 43 career games.
The duo will head to rookie camp this coming weekend. For the latest news on Colonel football, follow the team on Twitter @Nicholls_FB.
