New Orleans, La. – The ULM men’s basketball team struggled to get the offense going on Friday as the Warhawks were unable to come away with the win over Texas State in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference tournament.
THE TURNING POINT
-The Warhawks had a five-point lead with 7:26 to go in the first half of action, however Texas State use strong defense to hold the Warhawks without a point for nearly 14 minutes of game action as they stretched the lead out to a 20 point margin before eventually winning by 12.
-The Warhawks were led by a pair of double figure scorers on Friday highlighted by Travis Munnings’ 11th double-double of his career as the sophomore had 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Senior Marcus Washington in his final game in a Warhawk uniform added 15 points while going 7-of-15 shooting from the floor. He had six rebounds and three assists while also creating a pair of steals.
-Fellow senior Nick Coppola added five assists to finish his career with 555 assists over his four year career at ULM.
-The Bobcats were led by Nijal Pearson’s 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting as he added six rebounds, five assists and picked up five steals to lead Texas State.
-The Warhawks grabbed 14 offensive rebounds on Friday against Texas State – the 20th time in 33 games that they grabbed at least 10 offensive rebounds. Travis Munnings led the team with 69 offensive rebounds on the year.
-The Warhawks with the loss are now 5-10 all-time in the SBC tournament.
