A great season for a team that made an unexpected run to the semifinals came to a tough ending Friday in Sulphur.

Eighth-seed Neville scored single runs in the first two innings and held off 21st-seeded Neville 2-1 at McMurry Park.

The Tigers parlayed excellent pitching with superb defense to get the job done.

Neville jumped on top with a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI double by Cole McCarty and added an unearned run in the bottom of the second on an error to lead 2-0 off of Salmen pitcher Andre Beaudoin, who pitched extremely well.

Beaudoin allowed just one earned run on two hits. He walked just one and struck out eight, deserving a better fate.

Cole Jackson singled home a run in the top of the fourth inning to pull the Spartans within 2-1 but they could not get the equalizer.

Cole Clary picked up the win, going 5 1/3 innings, allowing just one run on three hits. He walked two and struck out two. Conner Wyly came on to get the save, going the final 1 2/3 innings.

Neville played stellar defense throughout, making several sparkling plays with no errors while Salmen struggled defensively, committing four errors.

The Tigers advance to the championship game Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. against third-seed Tioga, who defeated second-seed Breaux Bridge 6-5.
