Banks takes home seventh place in the South Alabama Invitational

(New Orleans, La.) – Leah Banks continued her quest for a top finish in the women’s heptathlon on Friday at day two of the South Alabama Invitational.

After turning in an eighth place finish on Thursday evening, Banks managed nearly 2,000 more points in day two to squeeze into the middle of the pack and finish the two-day event in seventh place with 4,507 total points.

Banks started the day with the long jump competition, where she came in at sixth place overall turning in a leap of 5.36 meters for 660 points.

She next competed in the javelin throw, where she would turn in a season-best throw of 30.99 meters. The throw was good enough for 495 toward the day’s totals.

Banks finished her campaign in the women’s 800 meter run, coming across the finish line at 2:34.02. That time got the sophomore 643 points and secured a seventh place overall finish at the event hosted by the University of South Alabama.

The Wolf Pack will conclude the 2017 season at the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championships on April 21-22 in Mobile, Alabama.
