Elite High School Athletes to Compete at Tad Gormley Stadium

Allstate Sugar Bowl Track & Field Classic 2017NEW ORLEANS – The Allstate Sugar Bowl Track & Field Classic returns to Tad Gormley Stadium this Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25, with over 2,000 entries slated for the two-day event. Since 1993, this event has been the largest high school track and field invitational in Louisiana; this year’s meet is expected to feature more than 75 schools (100 boys’ and girls’ teams) from at least five states (Alabama, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee). Admission is $5 per day while children 12 and under may enter free of charge.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 27 national champions, 92 Hall of Fame players, 48 Hall of Fame coaches and 17 Heisman Trophy winners in its 83-year history. The 84th Allstate Sugar Bowl Football Classic, which will double as a College Football Playoff Semifinal, will be played on January 1, 2018. In addition to football, the Sugar Bowl Committee annually invests over $1.6 million into the community through the hosting and sponsorship of sporting events, awards and clinics. Through these efforts, the organization supports and honors over 25,000 student-athletes each year, while injecting over $2.5 billion into the local economy in the last decade.
