NEW ORLEANS (GCAConf.com) – With the conclusion of the regular season yesterday, the seeding has been set for the 2015 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship, held this year in Little Rock, Ark. Xavier University claims the tournament’s top seed for the fifth consecutive season.
The tournament begins on Friday, Nov. 13 at Mims Gymnasium on the campus of Philander Smith College with three opening round matches. The tournament semifinals and championship final will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14.
The Gold Nuggets earned the top seed after defeating Dillard University 3-0 on Monday night. Both Xavier and Southern University at New Orleans finished the regular season with identical 11-1 records against conference foes, their only losses to each other. The Gold Nuggets won the tiebreaker between the two schools by taking five of the eight sets played in their matches.
Dillard University and Philander Smith College finish as the third and fourth seeds for the second consecutive season.
